Conditions on Travel on NT Public Buses
For a safe and pleasant bus trip all passengers are to abide by the following conditions of travel:
Animals: Hearing, guide or assistance dogs are only allowed on buses. All other animals are prohibited.
Baggage: Articles that cannot be conveniently carried, or that will interfere with the comfort of other passengers (as determined by the driver) is prohibited.
Behaviour: Persons that are violent or disturbing the peace, or who are likely to cause annoyance to other passengers or damage the bus (as determined by the driver) will be refused travel.
Conduct: The playing of musical instruments or music devices including mobile phones (unless using headphones), distributing handbills, advertisements or offering articles for sale is prohibited.
Food and Beverages: Eating and drinking (except for water in a resealable container) is prohibited.
Free Travel and Concession Fares: Eligible passengers should ensure they have a valid identification card as proof of entitlement.
Hygiene: Persons with soiled clothing or items that may soil the bus or clothing of any passenger (as determined by the driver) will be refused travel.
Smoking: Smoking is prohibited on buses, bus stops and interchanges.
Seating: Seated passengers must, if asked by the driver, give up their seat for a passenger with special needs, e.g. a senior citizen, a disabled or mobility impaired person, pregnant women or a parent with a small child.
Tickets: Passengers should ensure they have the correct fare (drivers do not have the ability to change large notes).
Travel: Standing on seats or riding on the step or a part of the bus other than that provided for the use of passengers is prohibited.
Failure to comply with the conditions of travel; instruction from the bus driver or a Transit Officer may result in a refusal of travel, warning or a ban from public transport services.
