Strategy

Planning and co-ordination

The NT Road Safety Executive Group (RSEG), comprising of the Police Fire and Emergency Services, the Department of Transport and the Territory Insurance Office (TIO) continue to work together to together to make the Territory’s roads safer for through:

  • Policy collaboration
  • Coordinate communication and education activities
  • Effective management monitoring of data and strategic research
  • Support for the delivery of road safety campaigns, forums and other strategic engagement activity.

This RSEG Action Plan 2012-2014 (pdf 500Kb) outlines the short to medium-term priority actions to make our roads safer for drivers, riders, passengers and pedestrians. It is built on progress achieved to date it features priority actions from the NT Police Fire and Emergency Services, the Department of Transport and TIO’s road safety action plans.

Many reforms being rolled out across the Northern Territory targeting health and alcohol consumption will have an impact on the death and injury on our roads in the longer term. In addition the following strategies have a particular focus or also aim to improve safer road use in the Territory:
