General Information
A Taxi Licence Ballot will take place in November 2009.
Commercial Passenger Vehicle Operators in Darwin and Alice Springs have the opportunity to apply for Taxi licences, with a ballot draw to allocate the available licences.
The ballot will seek to allocate:
- Alice Springs –1 Multiple Purpose Taxi licence
- Darwin – 4 Standard Taxi and 3 Multiple Purpose Taxi licences.
It is a condition of a Multiple Purpose Taxi licence that priority is to be given to carrying passengers in wheelchairs.
The ballot for available taxi licences is open to individuals or legal entities that have current accreditation as a Commercial Passenger Vehicle (CPV) operator, in accordance with Part 3 of the Commercial Passenger (Road) Transport Act, to operate Commercial Passenger Vehicles in the Northern Territory of Australia.
The Ballot
The ballot will be conducted publicly on Wednesday, 25 November 2009, under the scrutiny of the Taxi Ballot Steering Committee,

- Applications to enter the ballot close at 2pm CST on Friday, 20 November 2009.
- Only original ballot application forms will be accepted.
