Public Transport

The Territory's public transport services are managed by the Department of Transport and serviced by a range of contracted bus operators including Buslink and Darwin Bus Service (DBS).

Public Transport services have been designed to meet the needs of the general public, students, students with special needs, seniors and the mobility impaired.

Each year the Territory Government provides buses to transport members of the public to and from special events such as the V8 Supercars, Darwin Show, bassinthegrass and the Darwin Cup. Please check this website closer to the date of each event, for timetables, maps and other travel information.

Darwin bus services routes 1, 2, 3, 4, 8, 9, 10,12,14, 70, 71, 72, 73 and 74 operate seven days a week including public holidays (excluding Christmas Day and Good Friday). Alice Springs bus services routes 100/101, 200/201, 300/301, 400/401 and 500 operate from Monday to Saturday (excluding public holidays). NT Statutory Public Holidays

Thursday Mindil Beach Market Buses

Route15The Mindil Beach Markets return on Thursday 24 April 2014. Routes 15, 16, 17 and 19 will operate as of Thursday 24 April to service the markets. For route and timetable information please click here.

 

No bus service to Tipperary Waters Sunday 13 and 27 April 2014

14-imageV2-01Passengers are advised that due to the road works on Tiger Brennan Drive route 14 will not service the bus stop at Tipperary Waters on Sunday 13 and 27 April 2014. Bus services will operate as per the normal timetable schedule on all other days.


 

Bus services over the Easter and ANZAC Day public holiday period

ANZAC Day Darwin 25 April 2014

ANZAC DayFree bus services will be provided from the Darwin North RSL to the Darwin City for the public to attend the ANZAC Day memorial services on Friday 25 April 2014. The normal public holiday timetable will operate and includes two additional early morning services with Route 4 departing Casuarina Interchange at 5:00am Route 8 departing Palmerston Interchange at 5:15am. First bus advertising out now

firstnationalbussmallOn 1 March 2014 Go Transit Media Group - Australia’s largest privately owned bus advertising business commenced the management and maintenance of advertising on the Darwinbus network on behalf of the Territory Government. This opportunity enables national/local companies and small businesses to reach a wider audience in the Greater Darwin area by advertising on urban and school buses. Four buses with full wrap advertising were rolled out recently with more advertising to appear on buses over the coming months.

Changes to School Service 62 starting Monday 24 March

school buses in a rowTeachers, students, parents and carers are advised that changes to school bus route 62a will commence on Monday 24 March 2014. This route change will be introduced to service additional school bus stops on Lagoon Rd.

Industrial action on Friday 7 March

School-buses-2Students, parents and carers are advised that despite the industrial action affecting schools on Friday 7 March, all school buses will run as per the scheduled services.

 

 

Changes to School Services 107 and 108 starting Monday 3 March

107-108-image-01Students, parents and carers are advised that changes to school bus routes 107 and 108 will commence on Monday 3 March 2014. Routes 107 and 108 will now service MacKillop Catholic College en route to the Palmerston Interchange in the morning and immediately after the Palmerston Interchange in the afternoon.

As part of this change both 107 and 108 will depart 10 minutes earlier in the morning and will arrive 10 minutes later in the afternoon. For more information please see this notice. For the updated route maps and timetable visit the school services page.

Bicycle enclosure access changes starting Monday 10 March 2014

bike enclosureBicycle enclosure users are advised that a new bicycle enclosure security access system has been installed and will be in operation at Casuarina Interchange and Coolalinga and Humpty Doo Park and Rides from 10 March 2014.

From 10 March 2014 your current access key will no longer work. To access your bicycle enclosure a new access fob can be collected from the Casuarina or Palmerston Interchange ticket offices (please allow 10min for processing and bring your photo ID). If you no longer wish to use the enclosure, please return your key for a refund.

Conditions of Travel – School Students

school kidsStudents travelling on buses must abide by the Code of Conduct for School Bus Travel, show student ID and/or wear school uniform (when using the urban network).

Students travelling on the ferry free of charge must abide by the Code of Conduct for Ferry Travel for School Children. Students are required to follow all directions of the ferry staff.
